OUR EMOTIONS AND SENTIMENTS
I cannot understand why some people always accuse themselves by abusing their sentiments and emotions. Have we ever thought what our life would have been had there not been emotions and sentiments. We would have been like inanimate objects like stones. Boyfriend - an intriguing riddle
Ever  since  I  stumbled  on  the  threshold  of  adolescence , I  have  been  trying  hard to  unscramble  the  too-outlandishly  convoluted  riddle  of  'Phenomenon  Boyfriend' . The Real Shopping-Cart Revolution
Five hundred years of progress packed into a sack of flour.By J. Bradford DeLong, Wired MagHere's some food for thought.A smart shopper can buy a 5-pound bag of Gold Medal flour for 69 cents. That's enough to feed three people for a day - 7,500 easy-to-digest, relatively nutritious, and potentially tasty calories. All for less than 0.7 percent of a...  more...

Dismal state of Bollywood
What is happening in Bollywood?  I am unable to understand. What is happening to the film quality and the duration? Earlier, almost all the films used to be of 3 hrs duration or even more. Modi, a hero
Though I also operate within the realms of Indian English media, though I am aware of its “pseudo-secular” credentials, I was baffled by the kind of lop-sided, anti-Modi coverage of the Gujarat elections, especially in the electronic media. Our world is coming unravelled
I'm continually amazed by a kind of public blindness to the obvious realities around us. I don't want to go into details, arguments, justifications etc. because they obscure the big picture. I don't want to talk about global warming, unsustainable growth, extinction of species etc. because they seem like distant theoretical stuff to us.I'm stating ...  more...

‘Eating the Earth’!
Eating meat, dairy and eggs threatens our planet. You use much less land and water if you eat crops directly. Animals use most of the protein they eat to live, not 'grow' meat. So eating meat adds to water shortages, forest clearing, soil damage, use of oil-based pesticides - and climate change. "By 2050 the world's livestock will be consuming as m...  more...

The Landlady: Concluding Episode
For Fountainahas the night before Good Friday was a watershed in its rather uneventful history; many years after that fateful night, women in the neighborhood would habitually use it as a point of reference to establish facts: so-and-so’s age for example. ‘Oh! Don’t you remember? She was almost knee high that Good Friday!’ That night as Maggie lay ...  more...
